8.28.2016. Luke 19:1-10 “Transform”
Zacchaeus was changed since he met Jesus. He confessed about his past life and he promised to Jesus that he will give half of his possessions to the poor, and he will pay back four times the amount if he has cheated anybody out of anything. In fact we don’t know whether he actually kept his promise or not, but according to what Jesus said in this scripture "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham”(9), we can guess he sure did it.
However it is not that important Zacchaeus kept his promise or not. The most essential question that we think about through the story is “Was Zacchaeus’ life transformed to new life after he met Jesus?”. This is very important because even though he kept his words, but didn’t change his life, then it is meaningless.
Transformation is important. We know many people who say “I met Jesus.” but their lives were unchanged and not transformed at all. It is useless. Please pray for our Youth that they could meet Jesus personally and also could be transformed through their daily lives, so that they convey the blessing and the Gospel to friends and the others around them with their new life.

삭개오는 예수님을 만난 후 모든 것이 변했습니다. 이전에 자신이 저질렀던 잘못을 뉘우쳤습니다. 그리고 그는 예수님께 그가 가진 재산의 절반을 가난한 사람들을 위해 사용하겠다고 약속을 했습니다. 그리고 과거 자신이 남의 것을 속여서 이득을 취한 것이 있다면 네 배로 갚겠다고 약속했습니다. 성경에는 삭개오가 자신이 약속한대로 행했는지 알려주지는 않지만 예수님께서 “오늘 구원이 이 집에 이르렀으니 이 사람도 아브라함의 자손임이로다”(9) 라고 명시한 것을 보면 약속을 지켰을 것이라고 생각됩니다.
여기서 중요한 것은 삭개오가 한치의 오차도 없이 약속을 지켰는지 안 지켰는지가 아닙니다. 그가 예수님을 만나고 변하여 죄인의 삶이 아닌 구원의 삶을 살았는지가 중요합니다. 왜냐하면 삭개오가 자신이 약속한대로 재산의 절반을 가난한 자에게 나누어 주고 남을 속여 이득취한 것의 4배를 갚아주었어도 이전의 삶으로 다시 돌아간다면 아무런 소용이 없기 때문입니다.
변화된 삶이 중요합니다. 말로는 예수님을 만났다고 고백하지만 순종하지 않고 변화된 삶을 살지 못한다면 아무런 소용이 없을 것입니다. 우리아이들이 예수님을 만나고 예수님을 만난 증거가 아이들의 삶을 통해 드러날 수 있도록 기도해주시기 바랍니다.
