하나님께 가까이 함이 내게 복이라(시편73:28)

Numbers 21: 4-9 “Tools”

Israel people complained about God and Moses.

“they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!"(5)

Then the LORD sent poisonous snakes to bite and kill many of Israelites. Finally they regretted and asked Moses to help. The Lord answered Moses’ prayer and let him make a bronze snake and said that “Anyone who gets bitten can look at the snake and won't die and those who looked at the bronze snake lived.”

In this event, looks like the bronze snake has power to save Israelites, but the bronze snake itself is nothing because it can be made by men. Then how can possibly Israel people live by just looking at the snake? It is because the Word of God was there. God’s order did save them but not the bronze snake by itself.

Likewise, we are human beings and weak, it means we can’t do anything. But we can do everything if we are empowered by God and His words. God uses us as His tools for the kingdom of God, at this sense, we should remember that we should be humble under any circumstances and try not to forget the truth that only God’s words can lead us to have all powers that need for accomplishing the mission that God gave us.

이스라엘 사람들은 하나님과 모세를 향하여 불평을 했습니다.

“백성이 하나님과 모세를 향하여 원망하되 어찌하여 우리를 애굽에서 인도해 내어 이 광야에서 죽게 하는가 이 곳에는 먹을 것도 없고 물도 없도다 우리 마음이 이 하찮은 음식을 싫어하노라 하매”(5)

그러자 여호와께서 불뱀들을 보내어 백성들을 물게 하셨습니다. 그러자 백성들은 자신들의 잘못을 뉘우치고 모세에게 도움을 구했습니다. 여호와께서는 모세에게 놋뱀을 만들게 하시고 그것을 보는 자들을 살게 해 주셨습니다.

사실 놋뱀은 아무것도 아닙니다. 누구나 쉽게 놋 뱀을 만들 수 있습니다. 그런데 어떻게 놋뱀을 본 자들이 살아날 수 있었을까요? 그 이유는 하나님의 말씀이 있었기 때문입니다. 하나님의 말씀이 임한 곳에는 놀라운 일들이 나타납니다. 놋뱀은 하나님의 말씀이 없이는 사람들에게 어떠한 도움도 줄 수 없습니다.

이와 마찬가지로 우리는 연약한 인간으로 할 수 있는 것이 없습니다. 그러나 우리에게 하나님의 말씀이 있기 때문에 우리는 놀라운 일들을 할 수 있습니다. 하나님은 우리를 선한 도구로 사용 하십니다. 그러나 우리가 기억해야 할 것은 모든 능력은 우리가 아닌 하나님의 말씀에서 나온다는 사실입니다.

우리는 언제나 하나님 앞에서 겸손해야 합니다. 그래야 도구인 우리를 통해 하나님의 영광이 나타나고 우리에게 주어진 사명을 감당할 수 있을 것입니다.
